Is Your Social Media Activity Earning You Money?
Do you own a computer, laptop or smartphone? Do you have access to the internet? Unless you’ve spent your life in a remote cave, raised by a pack of wolves, then the answer is almost certainly ‘yes’.
Facebook announced this week that it now has over one billion active daily users, which is why it’s equally certain that you log into your social media accounts at some point each day.
Now, here’s a more interesting question. Have you ever thought about starting your own online marketing business? You may well think that this sounds somewhat ambitious, but the fact is, if you are currently a frequent user of social media sites, then you’re already in possession of the skills and the daily habits required to generate a significant income online.
The digital gold rush is real. It’s happening right now and every week tens of thousands more are taking advantage of the enormous opportunities offered by the rapidly expanding digital economy. But the really interesting statistic is that the vast majority of these new ‘internet entrepreneurs’ are not existing business owners or people with experience of corporate marketing. They are, in fact, just ordinary men and women from all walks of life for whom daily social media use is the preferred way of keeping in touch with the world around them.
As business mentors and digital marketing coaches, we welcome new students to our entrepreneur program every day, helping passionate, ambitious people to get their home-based online businesses up and running, and to convert their social media time into dollars and pounds.
Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest are the simplest and most effective tools used to build communities and to steer online traffic towards specific products and services. The result can be a long-term sustainable income, even from just a few hours of work each week.
Consider this. You are already marketing products and services every day on social media. You see a brilliant movie at the cinema and straight away you want to tell people about it, so you update your Facebook status and add a link to the YouTube trailer. Or you’re blown away by the latest Stephen King novel and within minutes of turning the last page, you’ve Tweeted about how good the book is. Now how excited would you be if the movie producers paid you for that Facebook post? Or if Mr Stephen King sent you a few dollars as a thank you for promoting his latest book? It’s not going to happen, of course.
But imagine if every time you were enthusiastic about a product on social media, and someone went on to buy that product, that you were paid a generous commission? A thank you, in cash, for the referral that led to that sale?
You already use social media every day, so what could be simpler or more logical? You take an activity that you are already in the habit of doing on a daily basis; one that you are proficient at and that you enjoy. And then you begin to make money from that same activity. It’s the perfect business model.
So, if you’re already a regular user of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or any of the other popular social media platforms out there, and you’re not making money from your Posts, Tweets and Pins…
…then don’t you think that it’s time that you were?
Dedicated to your future,
